Understanding the Core Beliefs of Muslims
Are you considering becoming Muslim but not sure what it entails? The first step is to ensure you understand the basic beliefs of Islam. These beliefs consist of:
- Belief in one God, who has no partner or son
- All Prophets and Messengers
- All scripture revealed by God
- Angels
- Day of judgment
- God’s decree
These beliefs are what make one a Muslim. If you believe in these things you are ready to become a Muslim. To become a Muslim, you simply have to declare the testimony of faith (in Arabic it is called the shahada).
You can listen to the Shahada here:
Ash Hadu An Laa Elaaha Illa Allah
(I bear witness that there is no God except Allah)
Wa Ash Hadu Ana Muhammad Rasul Allah
(And I bear witness that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah).
